It's in the basement. Turn on the light switch behind the dryer, walk past

the furnace, stay to the left of the water heater, and you'll eventually see

the breaker box on the wall in front of you. For heaven's sake, do be careful.

What happens if you use an ac circuit breaker instead of dc breaker?

A circuit breaker is easier to design for ac than dc because alternating current (ac) naturally goes to zero 100 or 120 times per second and this helps to extinguish any arc. Therefore an ac circuit breaker would not be suitable for dc assuming the same voltage and current ratings.

How do you know if the AC breaker matches the AC unit starting demand load?

Read the literature for the ac condensing unit, or the tag on the outside of the unit. Minimum circuit ampacity= minimum breaker, wire and fuse size. Maximum circuit ampacity= the maximum size. Your circuit breaker, wire size and disconnect fuses should all be at or between those 2 numbers.

What circuit breaker amp needed to run a 10 seer central ac unit?

According to their services the circuit breaker can be divided as a) Outdoor Circuit Breaker b) Indoor Breaker 3. According to the operating mechanism of circuit breaker they can be divided as a) Spring operated Circuit Breaker b) Pneumatic Circuit Breaker c) Hydrolic Circuit Breaker 4. According to the voltage level of installation these are divided into 3 types a) High Voltage Circuit Breaker b) Medium Voltage Circuit Breaker c) Low Voltage Circuit Breaker.

Is a 40 amp circuit breaker ok for a 30 amp air conditioner?

Yes. You should use 8 AWG wire from breaker to AC unit.

Can an AC circuit breakers be used on a DC circuit and will this give that circuit adequate protection?

Check the nameplate on the actual breaker. Some breakers are rated for AC or DC. If it doesn't specifically list DC on the nameplate, then no, you should not rely on the breaker to adequately protect the circuit.

Is a circuit breaker a resistor?

No, a circuit breaker is a safety device that is used in a circuit to limit the amount of current in an overload or short circuit condition. The number on a breaker is the top end current that the breaker will handle before opening the circuit.
