The numbers identify what bank account was from, check number, amount, and the account number where the money was transferred to, including date and authorization number, all is done electronically these days and they have to scan all the checks due to regulations, that's why you see the copy on your statement online.
In our company we always transfer the account number from the stub to the back of the check before separating them.
A cashier's check is not a cancelled check unless it has been cashed. A cancelled check is one that has already been cashed. Once you cash a cashier's check, the bank keeps it and you don't get it back. If you write a personal check, once it is cashed, that check will come back to you in your statement as the physical item which will be a cancelled check - or you will get an image of the cancelled check.
Cancelled checks tell account owners that the check amount has been paid to the payee. The back of the check shows who countersigned and cashed the check as well as the date of the transaction. These are proofs of payment and are available as copies if a problem occurs. For instance, if you have had to pay additional money for repair or cleaning of an apartment, you want the check copy in your files.
Where born
Endorse, or sign, the check on the back. Put your account number on there and write For Deposit Only.
In the event that there is some problem with the check, such as insufficient funds, stop payment, etc., it will then be easier for the bank to debit your account if they have recorded your account number on the back of the check.
If you have a bank account and are trying to deposit a check, you will have to sign the back of that check. If the back is not signed, it cannot be deposited or cashed.
Check
The bank location code is not located on the back of the check. It's located on the front of the check and it is typically called the routing number. The routing number is directly associated with your bank account and the bank institution you use.
To endorse a check made out to yourself, sign your name on the back where it says "Endorse Here." This signature should match the name written on the front of the check. If you are depositing the check, you may also need to write "For deposit only" and include your account number below your signature.
It Depends. If there is a valid bank account including the extra digits you put in by mistake, funds will be transferred to that account. The bank will not take any liability out of this wrong transaction that arose out of your mistake in entering the account number incorrectly. But, if there is no valid account with those numbers then the transaction will be cancelled and the money will be deposited back into your account. If by chance, money got deposited into the wrong account, you have to file a legal complaint to get your money bank. The bank can only provide details of to whose account the money was deposited and will not help you out to get the money back.
