the temp sensor is on the driver side of the engine block next to the exhaust manifold.
Could be the temp sensor..there could also be an oil pressure sensor at the top, back,or the block.
The temp sensor is to the right of the distributor cap in the top of the manifold about 6 inches away screws into the manifold. I just replaced mine and the temp gauge now is back working

Most intake manifolds have 1 or 2 places to put a sensor, and you can also take a plug out of one of the heads if it's convenient.
There is a pipe plug in each head and at least one in the intake manifold that can be used for this purpose.
It will be screewed into the drivers side head between the first 2 spark plugs.
