naked portion of their stomach skin called the brood or incubation patch. This area does not have feathers and are filled with small blood vessels. It actually provides heat during the incubation of eggs and later on for the young blue jays.

∙ 9y agoA blue jay can mimic the sound a hawk makes in order to tell other blue jays that a hawk is close by. The blue jay is territorial and will chase humans and other animals away from their nest. In June and September the blue jay will shed their feathers.
