The bulb failure module in the 1996 is in the trunk, on the driver side. It is concealed behind the wall carpeting.
To remove the carpeting, there are "buttons" that are removed with a 1/4 turn with a Phillips bit, and popped out.
The bulb module triggers that light when the tail lights are not drawing the amount of current that was set as the oem value. The offending bulb should be found and replaced to correct the issue.
However if the lamps are that of LED, which draw less current by nature and throws a bulb code; the best option would be to remove the light bulb in the instrument cluster that illuinates the icon. Verses disabling electronics that bay be used for the remote entry system.
