The chassis is the structural elements of the vehicle. A unibody chassis, (no separate frame) includes everything but bolted on body panels. If the vehicle has a body bolted on a separate frame construction then the chassis is the frame.
The term chassis is the frame plus the "running gears". So, the chassis is the frame, engine, drive shaft, differential, transmission...etc
a shassy is spelled chassis a chassis is the frame that cars are built on most modern cars do not have a chassis, they have a sub frame pickups have a chassis an example would be this if you removed the cab and bed from a pickup you would be left with a frame sitting on suspension and wheels ,with engine and gearbox this frame is the chassis
If it is the VIN number you are looking for, it should be located on the frame by the foot shifter.

From what i have found on my 1929 model A the chassis number is located top of the chassis rail under the cowl on the left hand side. On the 1929 there is a removable inspection plate on the floor frame just behind the brace that comes down from the firewall. The 1928 does not have this inspection plate, i have been told that some 1928 have no chassis number.
All vehicles have a frame on which the chassis is mounted.
