hi,i have just had this problem not 2 weeks ago. it is built in to the distributor.
Check the coil or coil packs if equipped.
starting from the top left going counter clockwise 6174 on the left coil pack and 8532 on the right coil
2001 range rover need to know the numbering on coil pack so i can get the firing order right
coil or the ignition amplifier
The 1997 Land Rover Discovery (Series One / Series I) uses a coil pack that is mounted above the engine at the rear, towards the bulkhead/firewall. Each spark plug is directly connected to a single coil of the coil pack, and thus does not use a distributor.
The coil plug wire sequence for a 1998 Land Rover 4.6 SE follows the firing order of 1-8-7-3-6-5-4-2. The ignition coils are typically arranged in a way that corresponds to this firing order, with coil packs connected to each cylinder. For correct installation, ensure each wire is connected to the appropriate coil terminal and spark plug as per the cylinder numbering from the front of the engine.
Coil sprung, solid axle, with radius arms and a panhard rod.
This was happening to me too for a couple of years. It turns out that there was a crack in the coil. Not sure what the coil is or does but I haven't had a problem since the mechanic changed it.
Yes, the coil pack on a 2003 Range Rover can be relatively expensive to replace. Costs typically include both the price of the part and labor if you’re having it installed professionally. Depending on the source, the coil pack itself can range from $100 to $300, while labor costs might add an additional $100 to $200. Overall, total costs can vary widely based on location and service provider.
The fuel pressure regulator sits behind the intake plenum on top of the engine in front of the coil pack.
To change the front coil spring on a Rover 75, first ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported on jack stands. Remove the front wheel, then detach the brake caliper and disc, along with the strut assembly by unbolting it from the lower control arm and the upper mount. Use a coil spring compressor to safely compress the spring, allowing you to remove the old spring and replace it with a new one. Reassemble the components in reverse order, ensuring all bolts are torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
To change the coil pack on a Land Rover Discovery, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, then remove any engine cover if necessary. Unplug the electrical connector from the coil pack, unbolt it using the appropriate socket, and carefully lift it out. Install the new coil pack by reversing the steps, ensuring a secure connection and reattaching the battery terminal.
