A Lincoln Mark VII (84-87) models with the 5.0 engine used the same setup as the 87-93 Ford Mustang with the computer "brain" in the passenger side kick panel. To reset it, you just disconnect the negative battery cable, and leave it disconnected for a long enough time to allow the brain to completely loose all juice (about an hour). If you have not corrected the problem, the check engine light comes right back on.
in the passenger kick panel
If you're talking 87-93 mustang and Lincoln mark VII, I think most engine transmission (automatic) parts are interchangeable. no they use different transmissions and engines

I have two 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII's both get around 18 to 21 MPG city and some HWY. straight HWY they both get around 30 MPG. I also run 87 Octane no Alcohol Gas. Alcohol in the fuel will drop my mileage 4 miles to the gallon instantly. drl
