The egr valve is located on top towards the rear of the engine. It is on the drivers side where the air intake hose comes from the air filter.
It don't have an egr valve!

the ford escort zx2 2.0 dohc don't have one it's equipped with vct(variable valve timing) to replace it
zx2's don't have egr since they have vct variable cam timing
where is th flasher relay on a 1999 ford escort zx2
The ZX2 engine does not use and EGR valve. Rather it uses variable exhaust cam timing. The exhaust cam turns due to oil pressure being sent to the CVT. The exhaust valves are held open while the intake valves are open which allows the exhaust gas recirculation.
no no no the zetec 2.0 dohc has vct it is variable valve timing in which that's why zx2's don't have egr valve and pretty much at a certain rpm the exhaust cam retards timing for a bit of performance and cleaner emissions
