If the engine is out it's easy. Unfortunately they put so many pieces below the block heater of that model it's almost impossible to change with engine in car.
You can flush the block thru the line to the heater core at the firewall. This will flush the heater core also.
block heater on a ford actually is not a block heater, the hater is in the right side near rear end of oil cooler on left side of engine, if you follow the plug in cord back, you will find it. it is NOT in the block
IF there is a block heater (Only some models had block heaters) you will see the electrical plug wound up somewhere under the hood. Follow that wire back to where the block heater goes into the block. If your Saturn doesn't have a block heater, and you want one, there are several options. You can purchase a block heater that replaces the engine freeze plug. That requires installation by a qualified mechanic since the old freeze plug must be removed to use that style block heater. You can purchase an engine heater that fits inline with the coolant system. That just requires cutting a hose and splicing in the engine heater. You can purchase an engine heater that sticks magnetically to the engine while in use. Be careful with that model since you should remove it if it's hanging down from the bottom; it could become a hazard when you're driving.
The 2001 Pontiac Montana block heater cable can be found in the front of the vehicle. You can access the block heater cable through the front grill.
You cannot, they are not manufactured with a block heater.
I was looking at a drawing on one of Fords websites and it shows the block heater is installed in place of one of the expansion plugs on the drivers side of the engine ( near the rear of the engine ) on a Ford F-350 7.3 liter Diesel V8 engine
Yes there is, look under your front license plate, or where one would be if they aren't required in your state. Then go right, there should be a flip open cap covering a plug for the block heater there. That is if your vehicle has one installed - not all Taurus/Sables have an engine block heater.
