I tried and tried to locate this fuel filter and I followed the lines all the way from the engine back to the tank with no luck. I called the dealer and they said that it was not located inside the tank as many auto manufacturers are doing now so that you can't change the filter and you have to pay them to do it. I ended up taking it to a shop and they charged me $80 to put it in for me. They showed me an image of where it is located. It sits on top of the gas tank and although it's not inside the tank, there is a plastic cover on top of the tank that holds it. You have to pry open that plastic casing with a flat head screwdriver to get to the fuel filter.
I am having my filter changed because the car started to sputter as if gas wasn't getting to the engine at 65k miles. Are you having that same problem?
