Depends on the Mercury. If its carbuerated, look near the carb or actually in the inlet tube of the carb. If its EFI, look towards the rear of the vehicle down the fuel line.
AnswerIT was right under the hood in My 93 Topaz, make sure you release the fuel pressure before you go taking off the filter AnswerI have a 1996 cougar and the fuel filter is attached to the outside the frame on the passanger side about a third of the way back. It was hidden behind a small metal flange and flange was attached with a couple of sheet metal screws.
