There are two cylinders on the left side of the tractor, these are the filters. First turn off the fuel by turning the fuel tap at the back of the fuel tank. Now on my tractor the two filters are the same, both have a metal bases and not glass but it is nearly the same thing. Over the filter, there is a securing seen on the top, turn this anti-clockwise to lossen. Remove the base, you should see a rubber ring on the bottom of the old filter and on top (if you can't see it, it's probaly stuck inside the filter head) and a smaller ring under filter head. Change the rings and place the new filter on, i.e base, ring , filter, ring and tighten the bolt to the base. Remember to switch on fuel .
Well, you'd need to specify which filter. Fuel filter, hydraulic oil filter, motor oil filter, air filter? There's more than one filter.
Fuel may have some water. Water gets picked up when the fuel is transported or stored. The filter bowl traps the water and needs to be drained from the bowl.
A dirty spark plug can cause your lawn tractor engine to run at high RPM. A bad fuel filter can also cause this.
What I have done to bleed the lines in my 4810 Diesel after changing the fuel filter is this.. 1. Obviously, bleed the filter housing to get the filter primed and the air out. 2. If the tractor won't start...i will swing the battery out exposing the injector lines into the block...while cranking the engine over, loosen each injector line one at a time until fuel seeps from the fitting, then re-tighten while it is pumping. Usually by the time you bleed the 3rd injector, the engine will fire up... *Obviously...safety is paramount...make sure tractor is in neutral and parking brake is engaged.
