The fuel pump on a 1991 Pontiac Grand AM is located within the engine bay. Fuel pumps can come in both mechanical and electrical formats and is connected to the fuel lines on the vehicle.
It's located in the fuel tank. You need to remove the tank. Make sure you replace the fuel strainer, filters. Make sure the relay isn't bad before you begin. Good luck.

I have a '98 Trans Am. On my car, from the rear driver's side tire, the Fuel Filter is located about 6 inches in front of the tire and about 8 to 12 inches in from the outside of the car. Hope this helps!
It is located on the drivers side by the back tire,near the drive shaft.
Back by the gas tank, just jack the car up and follow the fuel line from the tank and you will find it.
check under the driver's side, on the fuel line, somewhere near the tank.
Many GM vehicles have this in the gas tank located near the fuel pump. GM vehicles have their share of fuel pump problems.
