The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.
You need to drop the fuel tank - its located inside the tank, and accessed via the top of the tank. Eric
Yes, all of the Saturn's were equipped with Electronic Fuel Injection.
No, there is no inertia switch on any Saturn.
how to replace a starter on a 1992 Saturn 4 door car standard
Very time involved. Also two people are better to be safer. Pump is on the top of the fuel tank, so the tank must be removed from the car
I don't know for sure, but it could be the fuel pump. I have seen cars act that way when a fuel pump was failing.

If it is anything like my 96 SC2 i get about 35-40 highway mpg.
most likely it's the fuel pump draining down
My 1997 SC2 fuel pump failed one morning, the car had been starting, but would crank for several seconds before finally starting. I didn't realize this was a problem as I bought the car used and it always did this. Apparently, a failing fuel pump does not seal properly and when the car is parked, the fuel in the line drains back to the tank; therefore, the excessive cranking is related to priming the pump and fuel line.
A vacuum hose diagram for a 1992 Saturn SC2 can be found in an automotive repair manual. This type of manual can be purchased at an automotive parts store. In some cases, this manual is available at a local library.
