GM vehicles do not use inertia/reset buttons
General Motors products do not use inertia/reset switches
you can't really reset a battery.... to reset the sensors and the panel, open the fuse panel by the drivers door and hold the red reset button for about 10 15 seconds. It should make the same ding sound as when an indicator light comes on
On my 2000 Alero I open drivers door and open fuse panel door. Then turn key onposition but don't turn engine over. Push in reset button until the light you want flashes then hold the reset button for a few seconds.
where is the cabin filter on a 200l alero
If you are referring to the reset button inside of the fuse compartment then the answer to your question is that pushing that reset button is not meant to clear the service engine soon message. That reset button is what you would press after changing the oil (after the change oil message comes on to the left of the tachometer)... If your service engine soon message is on consistently then chances are you may have a problem with some part of your emission system.
To reset the computer on a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, disconnect the negative battery cable and leave it off for about 15 minutes. This will clear any stored codes and reset the engine control module. After 15 minutes, reconnect the negative cable and start the vehicle, allowing it to idle for a few minutes to recalibrate. Always ensure you have any necessary radio or security codes before disconnecting the battery.
