Harleys didn't use fuses in 1986. Instead they used self-resetting breakers which will protect your bike's electrical system for many years without having to be replaced.
On Softail models the main 30amp breaker is located on the plastic rear fender extension and the three 15amp breakers (lights, ignition & accessories) are located under the dash rearward of the speedometer.

I have a 1993 300e and located a 30A flst fuse close to the battery, perhaps this helps Added: 1986-1989 is Fuse "A" 16 Amps.
FLST would make it a Soft tail. Many times there are other letters after the FLST, such as FLSTF which would make it a Fat Boy

The gauges are on a 10 amp fuse at the far left side of the fuse block, third from the top. I believe that the horn is fused at or near the horn relay on the convenience center.
The mega fuse at the front of the under hood fuse block supplies power to the rear fuse block.
fuse is located in the instrument panel fuse block it is a 15amp fuse it is fuse #2 in the fuse block open the drivers door and pop the panel off it should be there
The fuse is in the fuse block and is the same fuse as the radio. The fuse block is under the dash on the right side of the steering column.
