The fuse for the brake lights on a Peugeot 306 is typically located in the fuse box under the dashboard on the driver's side. You can find the fuse box by removing the cover, and the specific fuse for the brake lights is usually labeled in the diagram on the inside of the cover. Check the owner's manual for the exact location and amperage of the fuse. If the brake lights are not functioning, inspect this fuse for any signs of damage or a break.

On most vehicles pressing the brake pedal activates a brake light switch which is usually located near the brake pedal. It will be this switch that is faulty. Replacing it is probably the best option.
In a Peugeot 306, the brake light switch is typically located near the brake pedal assembly. It is mounted on the brake pedal support and activates the brake lights when the pedal is pressed. To access it, you may need to remove any protective covers beneath the dashboard. Always ensure the vehicle is turned off and take necessary safety precautions when working on electrical components.
Since the break lights turn on when the head lights are activated, the problem is probably in the wiring of your break lights. Someone may have accidentally disconnected the wires of your break lights to your head lights.
