Why would a 1996 Jeep Cherokee turn but not start?

I had the same problem with my jeep . If the fuel gage is inop, it is probly the crank sensor...... the best way to check this is to disconect the sensor and if the gage starts to work (comes of empty) Its the sensor! the sensor is located on the top of the bell housing next to the block... real hard to get to!!!! replacement cost about $100.00
