I suspect you clogged the fuel filter. When you run out of gas, the bits of dirt, rust , and other particulates that have accumulated on the bottom of the tank get sucked into the fuel line. The fuel filter is not expensive and needs to be changed. Running out of gas is not a good thing to do.

I do know that there is a rubber nipple on the firewall that you have to find to unclog. I am guessing that it is close to where you see the a/c tubes enter the firewall
