How take off alternator on a E300D
To take apart the dash cluster of a 1999 Mercedes E300 TD, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the trim surrounding the cluster by gently prying it off with a flat tool. Unscrew the screws securing the cluster, then carefully pull it out of the dashboard. Finally, disconnect the wiring harnesses at the back of the cluster to fully remove it.
Its under the hood by the drivers side hood hinge.

In a 1998 Mercedes-Benz E300, the battery is located in the trunk of the vehicle, specifically on the right side. To access it, you'll need to lift the trunk floor cover. This placement helps with weight distribution and keeps the battery protected from the elements.
they are more expensive to repair than gas vehicles but last twice as long so would you say it is worth it? I think I would. my personal experience I have a 1996 Mercedes E300 diesel with 375K miles on the origonal engine and yes had to have regular mainanence on it but it is still running strong. I have a 1983 Mercedes 300D that has 280K that is still running good, and a 1999 F250 with 183K miles on it that still runs good. the first diesel I bough was the 300D 3 years ago and was so impressed with the better gas milage I sold all my gas cars and trucks and will never go back to gas.
Merc 300E is rear wheel drive.
