You only have a short time to reach the vase because your torch is burning out, and you cannot go directly to the location. There is a wall down the center of the cave, so you have to cross by going down, up, up, up, right, and then down and left. There are water puddles to jump over at the end.
Once you have the vase, exit using the Time Device and return it to 328 BC.
