Nash, New Yorker (Chrysler), Ninety-eight (Oldsmobile), Nissan and Nova (Chevrolet) are cars. They begin with the letter n.
underneath the intake plenum near the rear of the engine.
The '96 and '97 models are the same. AFH55M-12.
Disconnect the wire from the sensor, use an open ended adjustable wrench to unscrew it. take a new sensor and screw it in. on a different model (if not a standard sensor) there is a nut and bolt holding it in, use the steps above to replace it
Mines a 95 model and it took me 5 minutes. Just disconnect the sensor and splice the wires and connect the new sensor. Motor needs to be warm when you do it. Just dont burn yourself.
My girlfriend's car does this. Apparently had a bunch of recalls...camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor....previous owner had it replaced for free but now as the 2nd owner, the problem still exists, and Nissan won't replace anymore. I HATE Nissan! tons of people have this problem on this model.
Nissan is the make, Altima is the model. Earlier model years were sold as the "Sentra Altima".
It is right behind the brace that the spare tire is bolted to. It is a brass looking box that has two knobs that enable you to fine tune it.
