It is on the evaporator case or right side of the firewall.

The headlamps on a 92 Jeep Cherokee wont turn off if the switch has failed. The switch must be replaced to restore functionality.
It uses ATF
yes NO, The 89 uses a speedometer cable where the 92 is electronic.
The Grand Cherokee did not exist until the 1993 model year.
I bought a 92 Jeep Laredo and found it had a 1994 jeep engine in it.
check the blower motor resistor
look under the hood on the passenger side of the car. To access it you will need to remove the cooland bottle, brake pump (if you have abs) and you will see it behind the orop rod.
probably crank sensor, they are famous for that
The blower "relay" on the Cherokee is attached to (from behind) the 4-position fan speed switch on your dash panel. Remove the dash cover and the 4 mounting screws to the heat/AC control, pull it out and you'll be able to unbolt the relay from behind the fan switch. It has 5 prongs, either 4 or all 5 will have wires leading in. Sometimes the term relay can be misleading, it can also be a square-looking black box with prongs and there are a bunch of them in a relay panel under the hood, next to your washer fluid reservoir... In my experience (I have a '93 Country edition and had a '92 prior), replace that piece only if you see visible signs of corrosion or damage. If your problem is for example, the heater only works on high or it only works in one of the 4 speed positions, chances are more likely that the heater resistor needs to be replaced. If the blower itself isn't working, you'll have to test power leading to the blower motor or repair/replace the blower motor. I've posted more specific threads on the heater resistor and the blower motor, if you want to follow up with either of those type "Cherokee blower motor" or "Cherokee heater resistor" in the search and you should find them. Good luck!
I had one of these on a 1991 Wrangler and if I remember correctly it had 3 speeds. i currently have a 92 and it dose have 3 speeds
Run a new one from the blower motor body to ground
