Sutherland Falls towards the head of the Arthur Valley on the Milford Track. Drops in three leaps about 580m from Lake Quill.
There are another couple of candidates, both in Doubtful Sound. Browne Falls and Lady Alice Falls. 843m and 919m respectively.
But like Sutherland, these latter two do not plunge as a single drop, in fact they are more 'steep cascades' than falls. Where the line is drawn between the two types is arguable - Average gradient would be one.
