Hello there!
Now that is a question I have been looking for as I have researched the flu virus itself ✊
There are four types of flu virus- A, B, C, and the newly arrived D type
Type As are known to cause outbreaks from epidemics to pandemics like the 1918 Spanish Flu which claimed millions of lives (better get that flu jab!!).
Type B (IBV) has two predominant strains, Victoria and Yamagata, which I remember well.
Types C and D (ICV and IDV) don't cause anything serious, for now.
Type A flu viruses are found mainly in waterfowl or simply aquatic birds, for example, ducks.
IBVs are found in humans, dogs, pigs, horses, and seals. ICVs are detected in pigs, dogs, cattle, and dromedary camels. Lastly, IDVs are found in cattle.
Hope this helped you! 😄
Through your nose or throat.
it is a negative single strand RNA virus of family orthomyxoviridae having four group: influenza A, influenza B, influenza C, and thogoto virus. containing 7to 8 segments of linear rna with a genome length b/w 12,000 to 15,000.
eight genes are present in h1n1 virus
most likely enters through nose, mouth or eyes.
Yes, influenza is a virus.
H3N is part of the influenza virus naming convention, with "H" representing the hemagglutinin protein and "N" representing the neuraminidase protein found on the surface of the virus. H3N typically refers to a specific subtype of influenza A virus.
Influenza is an air-borne virus.
No, influenza is caused by viruses, specifically the influenza virus. Influenza viruses can infect the respiratory tract and lead to symptoms such as fever, cough, and body aches. Antibiotics, which are used to treat bacterial infections, are not effective against the influenza virus.
No it is an active virus.
Avian influenza is also known as the "Bird Flu". Influenza is caused by viruses. The virus that causes avian flu is the H5N1 influenza virus.
