It is important to know the location of all the parts in a car. The inlet air temperature sensor on this vehicle is in the intake manifold.Ê
intake manifold
On a 53 plate VW Polo, the coolant temperature sensor is typically located near the thermostat housing, which is usually found at the front of the engine. It may be positioned on the cylinder head or the intake manifold, depending on the specific engine type. To access it, you may need to remove certain engine covers or components for better visibility and reach. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for precise location and instructions.
crankshaft position sensor
Either there's a problem with your sensor, or there's a problem with your thermostat, and it's giving a false reading. Your engine temp may actually be high, as well - what you see on the gauge is the temperature of the coolant, not of the block itself.
first let the engine cool down. have basin ready to catch coolant flowing out of the hose. disconnect the electrical cable from old sensor. pull out old sensor. clean the area. insert gasket ring in the hose. push down the new one,
on most cars the sensor is located behind the front bumper

The sensors are installed as a safety feature. If your sensor is permanently on, then the sensor it self will have to be replaced with a new one.
Right behind the air intake. It looks like a small plate.

First locate the lamda sensor then take it off and thoroughly blow it through and then replace or replace sensor with a new sensor. all you will need is a spanner. Best buy the sensor on Ebay as they are up to half the price you will pay from dealer or mechanics garage. Mine cost 39:99 with free postage and packing (1st class recorded delivery) for my vw Polo 1.4 2000 reg. Make sure you phone the company who advertise on Ebay and give them your registration number so that they can send you the exact sensor for your car. The one end of the sensor screws in just like a spark plug and it is attached to a few wires with an electric wire block that just connects to the cars wires. :)
