To replace the alternator on a 1992 Chevy Lumina Z34 DOHC, first, disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner, then unbolt the alternator from its mounting brackets. Disconnect the electrical connections, including the battery and signal wires, and then install the new alternator by reversing the removal steps. Finally, reattach the serpentine belt and reconnect the battery cable.
