There is no key for the door but make sure your Pokemon are hard cure to beat the gym leader.I forgot that when you beat the gym leader you will get a TM i forgot what the TM was cause i play platinum now.If u r new you have to do what proff oak says then go to i think it is Jublife city and go into the gym it will automactically let you into the gym. You will have to do a puzzle before you get to the gym leader. The first gym leader is easy but the others are hard.I think there are a total of 8 gym leaders. once youv'e got the TM your on your way to the next gym leader.Try to lvl ur Pokemon well. If you follow my advice you will do well at Pokemon pearl and gat rare Pokemon.I hope i helped you please reply when u get time to.
