Its under the intake manifold.
under intake
In the sump, at the bottom of the engine block.
It is bolted in the transfur case tail shaft housing.
Drive side of the engine....about halfway back. It will be right above the cross member running under the engine.
Most cars have the oil pump located in the oil sump, at the bottom of the engine block.
If it is a 4-wheel drive theit will be on the rear of the transfur case where the drive shaft goes in it. The 2-wheel drives are on the transmission tail shaft.
iF IT'S A 2-WHEEL DRIVE THEN IT IS ON THE TRANSMISSION TAIL SHAFT HOUSING. IF IT'S A 4-WHEEL DRIVE THEN IT IS ON THE TRANSFUR CASE TAIL SHAFT HOUSING.
The sensor located on the top of the transfer case of a 1995 Chevy Silverado 4x4 is typically the transfer case position sensor, also known as the transfer case range sensor. This sensor monitors the position of the transfer case to help the vehicle's computer determine which drive mode is currently engaged, such as 2WD or 4WD. If this sensor fails, it can lead to issues with engaging or switching between different drive modes.
If it's not a 4-wheel drive then it is in the tail shaft on the back of the transmission where the driveshaft goes in. If it's a 4-wheel drive then it is on the transfur case.
Yes it can hurt your engine to drive with a bad knock sensor. The knock sensor should be replaced as soon as possible.
