Magnets are not essential as part of the computing function itself, but many machines contain CD or similar drives, which are actuated by small motors. Which are magnetic in operation. And similarly for Hard drives, which use magnetic disks to store information. BUT --
But the imminent arrival of solid state drives, (Flash Memory of various sorts) may mean that there are no magnets in the computer. Excepting the loudspeaker which is likely to remain the magnetic type in the near future.
[And excepting the Transformers in the power supply.]
P.S. Computer cooling fans also have magnets to be able to turn.
The only magnet in a computer is the one that reads and writes data to the hard drive. It is located inside the hard drive. Older computers also have a similar magnet in theirfloppy drive.
ever notice that when your using a tissue box that the last half of the tissues are blue instead of white
The Hard Disk Drive (HDD) may very well have a magnet in it provided that it is not a Solid State Drive (SSD) or any other form of a hard drive.
I dont think that leaving water, or small children near a computer is a good idea.
both sides (poles) of a magnet have the same magnetic charge
The magnet can scramble the magnetic ink used in audiotapes and videotapes, making it a completely random sequence of 1's and 0'1 and the cd should not be affected.
A loud speaker (like other speakers) produce sound (which is actually vibrations in the air heard by the ear) with a permanent magnet and a temporary magnet in wire form that is wrapped around the permanent magnet. (or a magnet that can be turned on and off by electricity) the speaker translates the sound into a series of electrical currents and then produces the electricity to alter the temporary magnet and making the magnets vibrate and in turn vibrates the air.
Pretty much any electronics with wires. The metal inside the wires and generally attracted to the magnet. For example, it is a TERRIBLE idea to put a magnet next to or on a computer or computer monitor. It will distort anything and everything inside the computer.
Get the magnet away as quickly as possible and check to make sure none of your files were erased. But if you have a MAC it might not affect your computer.
Computer is not magnet. You cannot you it like a magnet. You may have read it from some non real source.See the only place where magnet is is the hard drive or hard disk.and you can only take it out when you break your hard disk.
A magnet damages the Hard Disk Drive of the computer dramatically. Because a hard drive's hardware is a magnetic disk drive so the data get written magnetically to the disk. If the magnetic properties are reduced then your data goes with it. So dont ever put a magnet near a computer :)
No but it can ruin other parts of the computer like the harddrive.
You can, but it is not advisable, so don't do it.
pretty sure it does
If you accidently took a magnet to your computer and fried the hard drive, there's nothing you can do sorry
The answer is physical:)
i dont think so because a vending machine isn't as sensetive to a magnet as a computer would be.
I don't know why a magnet would harm a laptop computer, some repair techs even us magnetic screwdrivers when working on laptops. I guess if you were to place a strong magnet next to the hard drive it might harm it.
Yes, of course. You will kill your PC if you do that.
