Where is the network drive located?

The network drive can be any number of places: it can be a shared drive on a workstation (such as in a peer-to-peer network as Windows uses), a file server (in a more traditional client-server network configuration as most Linux/Unix networks use), a network-attached storage (NAS) device, or even a RAMdisk on a computer located on the network (though this is uncommon nowadays). If you are talking about something that has read-only access, it could even be an optical drive of some sort located on a computer or a "jukebox" of multiple optical discs hung off the network in some location.

As for the physical location of a network drive, it can be anywhere that is accessible from the network in question. Just because you can use it does not mean that it is sitting in the same room as you. It could be elsewhere on the same floor, in a different building, or even across the city/state/country from you with your only clue to its distance from you possibly being the amount of time it takes to get it to respond to your requests.
