IF the star Polaris explodes, it will explode a long way off. Polaris is around 400 light years away (the estimates vary...) and it is moving away from us. Polaris isn't big enough to become a supernova, but it may be massive enough to go nova, which would be plenty bright enough. We won't be around to see it; it may happen in billion years or so.

If you're worried about a star exploding, you should worry about Betelgeuse, the red supergiant star at the shoulder of Orion the Hunter. Betelgeuse is a MASSIVE star, and the bigger a star is, the more quickly it ages. Betelgeuse could easily go supernova within the lifetime of our civilization, within the next 50,000 years or so.

Seriously, don't worry about it. If it happens, it will be as bright as the full moon, but it's too far away to hurt us.

What is the name of your next north star?

When is the north star going to explode?

Please note that Polaris is a multiple star. The brightest component, Polaris A, is a supergiant, so it may not live much longer... at least in astronomical terms. Like any supergiant, it will probably run out of fuel some time within the next few million years. After that, it will explode as a supernova.

What can a super giant star explode into?

A supergiant star can explode into a supernova, where the outer layers are ejected into space. What remains may collapse into a neutron star or black hole, depending on the mass of the original star.

What is the space in space called after a star explode?

well it depends on the star. not all stars explode. small to medium sized stars just go into a planetary nebula after they swell up to a red giant then the bigger stars do explode, they have a super nova after the swell up into a super giant. but dont worry i star will not explode... its a really small star. --- nichole brooks :)
