It's in a cast aluminum container on the bottom of the engine toward the front passenger side, you will see a square hole. The filter is inside, it is a cartridge type filter. Filters are at your Toyota dealer and come with 2 "O" rings, an adapter to drain oil from the housing, plus directions.
Unscrew the old one, clean the mounting surface, oil the gasket on the new filter, screw the new filter on and tighten 3/4 turn after it makes contact with the mounting surface. The 3.5L motor in the 05' Avalon has a canister type oil filter located on the passenger, front side of the motor.
The oil filter on the 1997 Avalon is located on the side of the engine that is toward the front of the car. The filter will probably be so tight that you will have to use an oil filter wrench to remove it.
"Where on a Cadillac srx 2005 is the oil filter located?"
Unfortunatly for oil changers this filter will burn you good if the engine is hot. It is located directly below the front exhaust manifold.
Oil filterI may have found the answer for you.Oil filter is located inside a housing attached to the oil pan .Oil filter is not a spin on design it is cartidge style. And on the Edmunds site, there is apparently a PDF file from the service manual showing the change procedure. Here's where I found the info:http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/Avalon/46882-oil-filter-location-3-5l-2-a/
Oil capacity with filter is 6.5 quarts.. meaning if you take the filter out and drain that along with the engine oil, you need to refill the engine with minimum of 6.5 or 6 1/5 quarts of oil!
The oil filter is under the van just forward of the oil tank on the right side.
6 1/2 quarts.. 6.5.. if you drain the filter and engine etc, must refill with atleast 6.5 quarts of oil..

Yes, that is the correct Bosch filter for a 2003 Toyota Avalon.
ON THE ENGINE Or more correctly its under the exhaust manifold, which will be very hot after the car running.
The oil filter is still on the front of the engine.
