To change the oil filter on a 1991 Chevy Cheyenne with a V6, first ensure the engine is cool and then lift the vehicle safely if needed. Locate the oil filter, which is typically on the underside of the engine; use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove it. Before installing the new filter, apply a bit of new oil to the rubber gasket on the top of the new filter, then screw it on hand-tight. Finally, refill the engine oil through the oil filler cap and check the oil level with the dipstick.
