Behind the distributor cap
The 1997 Dodge Dakota oil sending unit is in the oil pan, on the bottom of the engine. You will need to remove the oil pan in order to view the sending unit.

The oil sending unit is located slightly lower than the distributor on the engine block.
It's to the right of the distributor.
It is on the front of the engine, just above the oil filter.

The oil pressure sending unit is on top of the engine at the back. It is right beside of the distributor.
