For the 1997 to 2001 Mercury Mountaineer : The Powertrain Control Module ( PCM ) is located in the engine compartment . You will see where the wiring harness is bolted to one end of the PCM . It passes through the firewall ( most of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment area

The PCM uses a dozen sensors that are located all over the engine. The PCM uses a dozen sensors that are located all over the engine.
On a 1997 Ford Ranger : The PCM location should be the same as on my 1995 Ford EXPLORER ( if you look in the engine compartment at the firewall you should see where the wiring harness is bolted to one end of the PCM , it is towards the passenger side of the vehicle , and most of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment )
Concealed by the dashboard, to the right of the glove box. Actually, the PCM in all S-Series saturns are located under the removable dash pannel located on the top side of your dashboard, in the driver's side corner just behind the instrument cluster. its secured by a 10mm bolt. the wires on the PCM are long enough to allow you to "drop" the PCM through the dashboard, and onto the driver side floor.
The PCM is located behind the drivers headlight below the air cleaner.
