The three sections of the radial artery are found in the forearm, at the back of the wrist on the thumb side, and in the hand.
The Radial Artery
Assuming a radial artery arterial line, simply palpate the long axis of the radial artery near the wrist with your index and middle fingers.
The radial head is located at the top of the radius bone in your forearm near the elbow. The distal end of the radius is near the wrist. So therefore the radial head is not located near the distal end.
The radial pulse is located in the wrist at the end of the radial artery. It is the most common place for healthcare professionals to take a patient's pulse.
The radial artery is the recommended site for arterial blood gas sampling. It is preferred over other sites like the brachial or femoral arteries due to lower complication rates and easier accessibility.
on the thumb side of the wrist
on pump and off pump.... another way to classify it is arterial graft (LIMA & RIMA and radial artery) and venous (saphenous vein)
The radial artery is located on the thumb side of the forearm. It is a major blood vessel that supplies the forearm and hand with oxygenated blood.
In the carotid sinus and the aortic arch
Your radial pulse is located on your wrist, just below your palm. It is the pulsing of your radial artery. Your radial pulse is useful for monitoring your heart rate, as it is the pulse that is easiest to feel your heart palpitations from.
The largest one - femoral, but it all depends on the wound, other injuries, blood pressure, position of the patient....
The two pulse points are the radial pulse, located on the wrist at the radial artery, and the carotid pulse, located in the neck at the carotid artery.
