If memory serves me right, on the 1980 model, the rectifier is located on the starboard, (right hand) side, of the front cowling support plate. On some models, the location was moved aft, just above the switchbox. If you're still not sure, follow the two yellow wires comming from the stator (under the flywheel), down to the rectifier.

could you please tell me the weight of a 1980 mercury 80hp 2 stroke outboard motor

1980-81.
you have a 55 hp 1980 model
By simply storing your outboard in a vertical position, powerhead up, the cooling water will drain out of the engine via the gearcase.
Most likely its a 1980 I just called mercury on an engine that matched that same serial number and it was a 1980 the only difference is the last number was a 9. Im sure its a 1980.
For the 80 hp Mercury, you may use any brand of gear oil that has been blended for use as an outboard motor gear lube. There are many brands available other than oem, and are specially formulated for outboard use.
The 1979 - 1980 model, 115 hp Mercury outboard, requires a 50:1 ratio. One pint of 2 cycle oil, to six gallons of fuel.
56lbs according to nada pricing guide
The 1980,s model, 75 hp Mercury outboard, requires a 50:1 ratio. This is roughly one pint of 2 cycle oil, to six gallons of fuel.
if its an old one(before about 1980) just look on the metal tab between the screws for the transom mounts.
