A bit more:
Before unstalling, I would suggest pressing the power (on/off) button for 10 - 20 seconds to see if that will restart it. If not, then try plugging your Kindle charger in to the Kindle and the electrical outlet. That worked for my Kindle Fire not long after I got it about a year ago when I couldn't get it to restart. I got the idea to try that because, every time I had to charge it, the Kindle Fire automatically came on when I plugged it in to the charger.
But I was also doing a 'hard' turn off every time I turned it off instead of just a simple turn off (just do a quick press of the on/off button instead of holding it in a few seconds). I later discovered that doing a hard turn off was what was causing me to have problems getting it to restart.
To learn more about it, or to trouble shoot the problem, you can go on Amazon.com to the Kindle section and ask them. You should get some good advice and suggestions pretty quickly to your question.

Alternatively, you can also press the power button to put the Kindle to sleep and then wake it up to return to the last page you were reading.

You can easily force restart your Kindle. Just perform these simple and easy instructions:- First, on the bottom of your Kindle device locate the power button and depending on your Kindle model, either slide or hold the button for 40 seconds to turn off your Kindle device. You will easily know this has happened because of this the power light will go out and the screen will go blank or a dialogue box appears on-screen. If a dialogue box appears then the on-screen prompt will ask you to confirm your intention to restart the device. If you still want to restart your device then tap "Restart" to complete the process. You should note that on a Kindle frozen screen you may need to press the power button again to turn the device back on. At last, wait while your device restarts and reloads your library, then proceed to use your Kindle as normal again. These steps resolve many issues of your device such as Kindle frozen.

Place any .mobi files in the Books folder, and place .pdf and other formats in the Documents folder.
