Depends. Stevens shotguns made before the Gun Control Act of 1968 would not necessarily have serial numbers, but some do. Generally found on the side of the receiver or behind the trigger guard.

Also, it can be found on the bottom of the the gun just before the break in front of the trigger guard possibly between the two screws.

It may not have one. Serial numbers were not required by law on rifles and shotguns until 1968.

Your stevens model 9478 shotgun was made during the years 1978-1985.while serial numbers were on the shotguns I do not believe that serial number records were kept as to the year of production.

By listing your serial number, and the model number with the caliber your shotguns was chambered in.please include this in your question.

The serial number range for the Stevens model 520-30 military shotguns is from 30,000-70,000.As to the year of manufacture you will probably have to contact Savage/Stevens directly.

Not if they were manufactured prior to 1969.

It's your job to provide enough information to identify the gun first. Stevens shotguns were made from about 1865 until 1991 and the assembly number (that MAY be a serial number if it recently manufactured) does not give a clue which model it is.

Made 1961-1970. Serial numbers were not required by law on rifles and shotguns until 1968. If you gun does not have a serial number, sometime between 1961-1968. If it has a serial number, 1969-1970.

What's the year of my Stevens? Serial number p116495

That is not a model number, but is likely the serial number. Unless you have a Model 620 US marked Trench Gun, Stevens pump shotguns have little collectors value.

The Stevens model 9478 was made from 1978-1985.for a exact year of production, you will need to contact Savage Arms Company who made the Stevens line of shotguns.

May not have one- US law did not require a SN on rifles and shotguns until 1968.

It probably does not have a serial number. Shotguns & 22s made before 1968 were mostly made without serial numbers. lcj

Most likely isn't one these shotguns were over 50 years old and were made before there was a requirement for background checks/ serial numbers.

These shotguns were made by savage/stevens between the years 1986-1989.There was no accurate records kept of the serial numbers as to year of production.

Generally Stevens and Savage shotguns work like this: A for 1949, B for 1950, C for 1951 etc. You can go to www.bluebookinc.com and look it up to be sure. It is free to look up the serial number/date of manufacture.

May not have one- not required by law on rifles and shotguns until 1968.

Serial numbers were not required on long arms before Jan 1, 1969. Most manufacturers did not assign serial numbers to small caliber rifles or utility shotguns.

It may not have one. Rifles and shotguns made prior to 1968 were not required to have serial numbers.

STEVENS AND SAVAGE DID NOT PUT NUMBERS ON THE SHOTGUNS AND OVER AND UNDERS IN THE MID 4OTS UNTILL 1954. THE GUN IS WORTH ABOUT 250.00 TO 350.00

These shotguns were made from 1926-1945.Stevens did not keep records as to the year of production by serial numbers.

Stevens 12 ga, Model 77D, made before 1968 may not have a serial number. However, some do! If it has a serial number, it will be behind the trigger on the receiver side.

That is a phone number, not a serial number. Ithaca did not make 3 billion shotguns.
