it was made in England
A Cable-Nelson piano with serial number 215022 would have been produced sometime between 1947 and 1950. At this time, Cable-Nelson pianos were actually produced by the Everett Piano Company, who was later acquired by Yamaha.
If it's a Chicago Kingsbury (check the plate or the case for a company or manufacturing location), it would have been built by the Cable Company of Chicago. If that's the case, the 5-digit serial indicates this is a pre-1909 unit. The Blue Book of Pianos notes the company started producing #65000 in 1905 and was at #140000 by 1910. With that in mind, yours would most likely be have been built some time in 1907-08.
I saw one with the serial number in the 360 thousands that sold for over $25,000.00 USD in 2004. If it is in good working order and looks good, you have an excellent item to buy or sell. Good luck.
To determine the age of a Cable-Nelson upright piano with a serial number of 344315, you can reference the company's serial number charts, which typically indicate that pianos produced in the early to mid-20th century fall within a certain range. Serial numbers around 344315 suggest the piano was likely manufactured in the 1930s or 1940s. For a precise date, checking specific serial number resources or contacting a piano technician may provide more accurate information.
It looks like it is made between 1923-1925 Someone just gifted me a Cable Baby Grand made in 1925, and I have been doing research on it.Here's a link to look up Cable Piano age based on serial numbers:http://www.bluebookofpianos.com/serial1.htm#CABLEGood luck to you!
I have a Cable serial #180242 and the sales slip that was inside the case of the piano says it was purchased in 1914.
I'm sorry, but your question seems to be incomplete. In order to determine the age of a Cable-Nelson Upright piano using the serial number, you would need to provide the full serial number. The age of a piano can typically be determined by referencing a serial number chart specific to the manufacturer and model. If you provide the complete serial number, I can help you calculate the age of the piano.
1906
Unless the serial number sequence was different on the Chicago models and the W.H. Palings models sold in Australia (that is, if there was only one sequence of serial numbers for all Victor pianos), yours probably dates to the early 1900's. Serial # 52000was manufactured in 1925 and serial # 40004, about 1870. Some information, much of it conflicting, indicates that your piano was manufactured in 1921. I wonder if it is quite tall and has two candle holders, just to see if we are talking about the same manufacturer.
It is very old.
