These savage/stevens model 94c were made from 1929-1942.long before serial numbers were mandated by the gun control act of 1968.So there is a strong possability that your stevens does noy have a serial number.
I can say that with the markings of J Stevens Arm and Tool Co.your shotgun was produced sometime between 1886-1916.All firearms were marked so during this time span. There may well be no serial number assigned due to this not being required until the year 1968 with the adoption of the gun control act of that year.
I can say that the Savage model 720 shotgun was made by Savage from 1930-1949.I do not have the serial numbers by year of production thou.
As far as I'm aware, they've made them forever. Get the serial number off it and go to the Stevens part of this website and post the q-somebody will know. As far as the gun itself goes, it is a highly sought after but not very valuable arm...enjoy it and don't bother trying for money. Marked as a 311, it was made after 1941. Same gun was the 5000 in the 20's and a 5100 in the 30's. It was made until about 1988 or 89 but if it has no serial number it was made before 1969.

The vin number on the Brute 750 is between the lower front a-arm mounts. Check directly on the lower left a-arm.
Because the right arm was a cursed arm if they tatooed on it and it was beleived that they would die the next day if they did.
