it should be on the side of your tranny towards the tail end
its usually on the transmission but im not entirely sure which sensor it is
On top of the intake manifold beneath the air filter
in the tank
290 stock horsepower
On 87 and 88 s10 the speed sensor or vss is under the dash atached to a bracket it is a blue box about 3 inches square. It is not on the tail shaft or t-case on a 4x4
87 octane
This would not be a direct swap.......adapters and computer change is inevitable!
my 87 does the same thing. i found if just a small light on the sensor located just off the lft upper corner of the dash gets light, it lights my dash like a new car. i believe that sensor is MY particular problem.
It should because GM has kept the drive lines the same in it's trucks for a long time .
First of all is that the 94 suburban has a 4L60E transmission in it. Therefore it will no work in the 87 model.

On a 1987 to 1990 Celebrity with 2.8/3.1L engine the crankshaft position sensor is on the side of the block beneath the exhaust manifold on the firewall side of the engine.
