There is no speedo cable, the dash is electronic. Thirdgen.org has more detail on how to fix it.
all electronic no cable
If it is the gauge you have to pull the gauge cluster. If it is the cable you have to get under the car and replace it. It will be the only cable on the tranny. Good luck
There is not an odometer cable. The odometer is driven by the speedometer. If the odometer is not working then you will have to replace the speedometer head.
One end at the speedometer head The other at the side of transmission
My Camaro RS 91 V8 305 TBI 5.0 does not have any cable. All is done electronicly.
odometer cable and speedometer cable are the same thing, unscrew cable from speedometer head under the dash and unhook it from the tranny and pull the cable out and replace with a new one.
It does not have a cable... It is electronic controlled. It has a sensor that is bolted in the drivers side of the transmission TAIL SHAFT that controlls the speedometer among other things.
I had that problem in my 84 and it turned out to be the cable itself
they dont have a cable they r sensor driven speedos on those cars
unhook it from the speedometer head and unhook it from the tranny and take it out.
Probably does not have a speed sensor. It would have a speedometer cable that goes from the back of the speedometer, through the firewall, underneath the car, and into the transmission.
In 1979 the speedometer was driven by cable. They went electronic in the early 80's.
