On a 2008 Ford E-150, the starter solenoid is typically located near the battery, mounted on the inner fender or the starter itself. It's usually a small cylindrical component connected by thick cables to the battery and the starter motor. If you're having trouble locating it, refer to the vehicle's service manual for detailed diagrams and specifications.
The problem is almost definitely your neutral safety switch. When you jump the solenoid you are bypassing it. The problem is your starter is going and needs replacement
more than likely in steering column
It could be two things wrong, the first thing to check would be your starter and the other would be your solenoid. take a hammer and tap on your starter, (sometimes that helps)
the fuse is in the dash behind the overdrive switch
on the top of the engine compartment firewall
It is near the throttle body. There is an electrical connection and two hoses, one of which connect to the throttle body.
