Line up number one cylinder on the compression stroke to TDC. Remove distributor cap and take note where the rotor lines up to which post on the cap, that would be the starting point for number one. The firing order from there would be 1, 5, 3, 6, 2, 4 clockwise.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but ( no ) If you are only replacing the distributor cap , it only fits on ( 2 ways ) The correct position and 180 * out
The usual spot for #1 cyl on the cap is pointed directly at the #1 cyl on the car itself, anyway it's to the right of the center plug wire connector on the cap, looking directly at it from the front of the car. firing order is 18436572.
The firing order for a 1973 corvette 350ci and the optional 454 is 18436572 Firing order remains the same for breaker point ignition as well as HEI electronic Position of #1 plug wire on distributor cap changes slightly when converting to HEI from a standard breaker point ignition system...............sfvrider242
on 68-74 340 engines, the #1 firing order starts at drivers side, front of engine is #1 spark plug. Rotor in distributor cap, must point in that direction and piston in that cylinder should be at top of stroke. Align distributor cap wiring #1 where rotor is pointing to. Then follow firing order clockwise at top of cap. Rear of engine 8-7 6-5 4-3 2-1 Front of engine
The engine firing order is 123456. The spark plugs at the front of the car are starting from the passenger side 2 4 6 and at the windshield side 1 3 5. There is no distributor on a 1990 3.1 liter engine. They have a coil pack instead and are numbered 5 2 3 6 4 1 from the left. Original equipment from factory had the spark plug wires numbered. .helpwhats the firing order diagram 1984 buick regal
Firing order is 153624, # 1 is front cylinder, distributor rotates clockwise timing: 4BTDC auto trany TDC standard trany point gap is .019 point dwell is 31-34
Bring #1 piston to its uppermost point and observe position of distributor--it should be firing on no. 1
If you mean which point on the distributor cap, the easiest way to find it is to set number one piston at top dead center and see where the rotor is pointing in relation to the distributor cap - the rotor should be pointing to the location of number one park plug wire firing point - this is where the number one spark plug wire should be connected. The rest of the wires are connected according to their firing order.
v8 firing order starts on the front drivers side with HEI ignition ( points to cyl 1) and Front Passenger side for point ignition. (Points to cyl 2) Firing order: 18436572 Passenger cyl: 2 4 6 8 Drivers cyl: 1 3 5 7 Rotation is clockwise
1-8-6-5-4-3-7-2- firing order is number 1 should point at number 1 cylinder.than go clockwise from there.
Almost all v8 engines have the a firing order of 1;8;4;3;6;5;7;2. the rotor rotates counterclockwise. so, as long as you follow the firing order...it doesn't mater where you point the rotor!
