The faulty rack or the other faulty part will need to be replaced.
There are no possible adjustments for steering play!Could be worn ball joints, worn steering linkages, worn/out of adjustment steering box and or worn/out of adjustment wheel bearings.
There will need to be an alignment done on the vehicle to straighten the steering wheel properly. The adjustment to make it straight is called a "toe Adjustment". If it pulls while driving causing the steering wheel not to be straight it will need a Caster or Camber adjustment or all of these may need adjustmnet.

If the gearbox is causing freeplay in the steering wheel, then the gearbox needs to be replaced.
With the wheels pointed straight ahead and engine running (assuming it has power steering), you measure the amount of travel at the outer diameter of the steering wheel from left to right without moving the wheels.
This means something is out of kilter in the alignment or steering itself. The adjustment/repair is not at the steering wheel only.
It could be a short in the fuse.
if you have the steering wheel controls, that arrow on the lower right side will reset it.
