The selector lever.
An automatic transmission modulator is the device that decides when your vehicle should shift. It basically controls and regulates pressure for smooth operation of the automatic transmission.
You didn't state weather it was an Automatic or Manual transmission. Well any way they are both on the transmission. Manual transmission has a separate switch for the backup lights the automatic is built into the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Automatic switch is about $50.00. Manual switch is about $10.00. Hope you have a manual it is a lot cheaper.
automatic transmission
TCM, is the Transmission Control Module. It controls automatic transmission shift points, etc.
If the pcm controls the transmission the shifts could be inaccurate.
Why is the shifter on Manuel transmission so wobbelie
The neutral start switch mounted on your automatic transmission also serves as the back up lamp switch.
The switch for the backup light switch for an automatic transmission is located on the transmission where the shifting cable enters the transmission (The side of the transmission closest to the radiator),how about for the manual trans mission models?
It is combined with the neutral safety switch and mounts to the transmission where the shifter linkage is attached.
Standard or automatic transmission??? In most vehicle situations the switch unscrews out of the likage side of the transmission.
If this is an automatic transmission, the switch is located on the driver side of the transmission housing where the linkage plugs into the transmission. If it is a manual transmission the clutch safety switch is located near the top of the clutch pedal.
The Neutral safety switch is located on the back of the automatic transmission. it is quite simple to replace. It is probably easier to replace from under the vehicle, but it is accessable from the top if your vehicle is not equipped with ABS.
