In Microsoft Windows, it is the bar normally on the bottom of your desktop that has the start menu, windows & programs you have open, and the date & time.

∙ 13y agoThe taskbar on a Mac is at the top of the screen. It is actually known as the menu bar. If you mean the equivalent of the bar on the bottom of the screen of a Windows computer, then that is on the right of the dock on the bottom of a Mac. The Dock can be hidden, and you can also change settings so that windows minimize into the corresponding application icon.

∙ 11y agoThe task-bar - is a narrow strip usually at the bottom of the screen. It holds information such as the date & time and the Start button for Windows. It also display other icons such as open files or active programs, as well as short-cuts to regularly-used software.
On a Mac it is called the menu bar and sits at the top. You use the dock to open and close programs, and the menubar tells you the time, the search feature on a mac and wireless / bluetooth. It also has the File, Edit... menu on it, and an 'About this Mac' button.
